Overview

Sushi Village Sashimi and Donburi at Bangsar Southlink offers a focused and satisfying dining experience centered on Japanese comfort food, notably their sashimi and donburi bowls. Nestled within Residensi Sambungan Selatan, this compact restaurant brings a taste of Japan to Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant Bangsar South neighborhood.

The highlight here is undoubtedly the Chicken Katsu Don, a generous bowl featuring crispy, golden chicken layered over steamed rice. It’s a hearty dish that delivers on both texture and flavor, perfect for those seeking a fulfilling meal beyond sushi. Coupled with this is the Chicken Katsu Bento Set and Chicken Mazesoba, which add variety while maintaining the restaurant’s emphasis on well-executed, approachable dishes.

While sushi is featured prominently in the restaurant’s name, patrons have found the rice bowls more memorable. There’s also a clever add-on option that allows diners to include two pieces of sushi with their meal, complemented by hot green tea. This makes for an excellent balance—offering both familiar Japanese staples and a modest sushi experience without the premium price tag.

The restaurant’s location within a residential-commercial hybrid space ensures accessibility for office workers and locals alike, making it an ideal lunchtime spot. However, the compact seating and close table arrangement can feel cramped during peak hours. This spatial limitation may affect comfort, especially for diners who prefer more private or relaxed settings.

The atmosphere is lively but unpretentious, reflecting the casual nature of the menu and the clientele, who are typically looking for quick, delicious meals rather than elaborate dining. While the service is generally friendly, there is room for improvement, particularly in managing busy periods and addressing small details such as utensil suitability.

Overall, Sushi Village Sashimi and Donburi serves as a solid option for those craving affordable and satisfying Japanese donburi and sashimi dishes in Bangsar South. Its focus on quality ingredients and reasonable variety ensures a dependable meal choice, especially for the working crowd and casual food lovers in the area.

The restaurant's name mentions sushi, but my favorite dish is actually their rice bowl, the Chicken Katsu Don. It comes with generous portions of crispy chicken on a bed of rice and is very satisfying. I recommend trying the add-on option. It allows you to choose two additional pieces of sushi at a discounted price, and it even includes hot tea! The only drawbacks are the limited seating and the close proximity of the tables, which can feel cramped during busy periods. Additionally, I found the provided spoon a bit large for comfortably eating rice. I'm unsure if they offer alternative spoons, but I haven't had the chance to ask due to the frequent crowds.

20/07/2023 Not much sushi left around 2.30PM. Maybe they'll refill after the lunch rush. Managed to grab 4 sushi at RM10.70, which is pretty reasonable. Overall, not a bad spot for a decent sushi fix on a budget.

I ordered salmon rice bowl. Not too bad and fresh. It is pleasant tasting. I am actually satisfied with my meal, I would patronize again if I get the chance. Kudos to the place . Please just give more soy sauce in the future but the sashimi fish is the star and helps the dish so I didn't mind it that much

The food is great and the selection as well. The only gripe is the space is very limited during lunch time. Also it is beside the non halal food court so do be wary if that bothers you. Service was also excellent!

A good choice of lunch in Southlink. Overall the food is good and affordable. Personal experience is that the meal quite worth it which come together with unlimited self-service hot green tea. However, the staffs still need improvement in their services. I will recommend customer to choose the sushi for add-on option as they allow two selection which is quite cheap compare to buying the sushi ala-carte. Be reminded, not much of sushi selection during lunch hour.
